About Me
The great granddaughter of subsistence farmers, Morgan Smith grew up in rural Kentucky amongst a tight-knit community of family, friends, farmers, cooks, and gardeners.
After receiving a full ride to the University of Kentucky, she headed off to the big city, determined to pursue her multi-faced passion for cooking, fighting climate change, and building true community.
From this foundation, she served as a writer and digital communicator at American Farmland Trust, where she spoke with farmers across the country on ways to make US agriculture more sustainable. Then, she moved to NYC to dive deeper into the culinary arts, studying health-supportive cuisine and human nutrition at the Institute of Culinary Education.
Now, based in our nation’s capital, this unique background has amplified her conviction around the need for conscious conversation, proactive policy, and innovative solutions to collectively transform our food system.
Today, she brings these passions together by championing healthier food systems, and finding ways to fuel a more equitable food future.
